Privacy Policy
Last updated October 3, 2026
We collect only what we need to sell you a tested unit, ship it and look after you afterwards. We don't sell your information, and we don't use advertising trackers.
What we collect
- When you order: your name, email address, phone number and shipping address, the units you bought and what you paid. Payment is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
- If you sign up for emails: your email address, and the model you asked about if you used "Notify Me".
- If you request a return: the reason you give us.
- If you contact us: your name, email and whatever you choose to send.
- If you leave a review: your rating, your review and the name you choose to show. Reviews are published on the product page after we check them. Your email, address and full name are never shown.
- Security basics: to stop abuse, like someone holding all our stock in endless checkouts or spamming sign-ups, we keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address with orders, sign-ups and form submissions. It can't be turned back into your address.
How we use it
- To process, ship and support your order, including tracking updates and returns.
- To answer your questions.
- To email you about new stock or a model coming back, only if you asked us to.
- To prevent fraud, and to keep the records the law requires, such as sales and tax records.
Who we share it with
Only the services that help us run the store, and only what each one needs:
- Stripe processes payments and helps detect fraud.
- Cloudflare hosts this website and its database.
- Pirate Ship and the shipping carrier (USPS, UPS or similar) receive your name and shipping address to print and deliver your package.
We don't sell or rent your personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. We'd only disclose it otherwise if the law requires it.
Cookies and visitor counts
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. Your cart is saved in your own browser so it's still there when you come back.
To learn which pages and ads are useful, this site counts page visits and a few actions (viewing a product or test report, adding to cart, starting checkout, signing up) itself, without cookies. We record the page, the website or ad link that sent you, and whether you're on a phone, tablet or computer. Instead of anything that identifies you, each visit carries a scrambled code that changes every day and can't be traced back to you or your IP address. If you arrived from an ad or one of our links (including the QR sticker on your unit), that link's tag is kept in your browser for 30 days so we can tell which ads lead to orders, and your order records it. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, none of this is recorded. Visit records are deleted after about 13 months.
We may also count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies or identify you. Stripe's payment page may use its own cookies to keep payments secure.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept as long as needed for returns, accounting and tax records, generally up to seven years. Email sign-ups are kept until you unsubscribe. Anything else is kept only as long as it's useful to help you.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe any time by replying "unsubscribe" to any email from us.
- Ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. We'll delete what we aren't required to keep for legal or tax reasons.
Security
This site runs on encrypted connections only. Our store admin is protected by sign-in checks, and your data is backed up to private storage. No system is perfect, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if something goes wrong that affects it.
Children
This store isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
